Nature Festival

  • Nature Festival City Centre Adelaide Australia (map)

A new festival for South Australia, Nature Festival is back for its second year, filled with creative ways to connect with nature and each other. With over 200 events for all ages, enjoy the festival from 25 September to 4 October 2021. Find the full program here, and the day to day schedule here. You'll also find events listed on the Facebook events page. Stay in touch via given links for updates.

In a time of climate change, bushfires, and global pandemics, now more than ever we need to encourage a deeper relationship with nature. Getting back to nature is just a feel good activity that we can get the whole family involved in - to give our future generation an appreciation of mother earth and the wonder that surrounds us. Nature is valued explicitly by the Aboriginal culture, and modern science has begun to quantify the wellbeing benefits of nature. That's worth celebrating! You can also help out and give back by getting involved with nature. You could build your own wildlife box for parrots or possums; get involved in the practice of saving seeds to protect plant species and ensure food security; make your street and verge come alive, and more. You'll find events you can participate in, to give back, HERE.

At the Festival you'll find themed events like -

Featured Events - daily discussions about nature and a community, workshops, walking tours, plant based cooking for the planet and more

Aboriginal - a series of walks in Wadmore Park/Pulyonna Wirra, Mai ngarku-ngarkunya Ngaltingga Karrawadlungka: Aldinga Edible Foods and many other interesting events like the Nature Festival Wrap Up Picnic to see the festival out with a bang

Adventure - the kids would love the Wilderness Escape October School Holiday Program or the Junior Photography Trail for the artistic and perhaps parents would love Forest Bathing in Belair National Park

Arts & Creativity - for the creatives there's Garden Art at Common Ground Community Garden, Painting Workshop - The Scattering of Leaves, Biophilic-Design Sculpture Workshop and the likes. Keep in mind you need to get in quick as a few have already sold out eg. Weaving with Weeds, Fun in the Forest etc

Kids and Family - there's so much the whole family can do together like Bringing Nature Home, Ochre Play, Explore Bat World, STEM - Science of Terrariums, Echeveria and Moss and other events that personifies the ethos that the family that plays together, stays together

Learning - what's not to love about Food Underfoot: going for a foraging walk and learning which weeds are fair game for food, and Learning from Landcarers to discover how you can help bring nature back to your place

Slow Down - harmony and peace within these events; like Open Garden - Working Person's Garden. Get inspiration from a contemporary garden with talks by the owner who is a landscape architect. Or you could create your own flower crowns and sit like a child of nature, enjoying High Tea at The Sanctuary.

This is but a few to whet your appetites. Go forth and explore all 200 plus events.
