WHO CAN ATTEND:

The March is not just for women. It’s for everyone who wants an end to gendered violence – people from all backgrounds are welcome.

Men are welcome at the event and to march as allies and supporters. It’s important, however, that this is a space where women feel safe and be front and centre to have their voices heard. We want men to stand with us and by us.

RUN SHEET:

The event will include a Welcome to Country from Rosemary Wanganeen, a diverse range of speakers to be announced shortly (we will update as soon as confirmed), chants, live music, presentation of the petition. More details to follow!

COVID SAFE EVENT:

In accordance with SA Health/SAPOL requirements, we have a COVID safe event plan, including registration with the required SAGOV COVID CHECK-IN.
If you are feeling unwell on the day of the march please stay at home and get tested.
Please do not attend the march if you have been in a COVID affected area in the past 14 days.
Hand sanitiser will be available at the event along with check-in QR codes.

#March4Justice is an organic uprising, with logistics being undertaken at speed by volunteers around the country. Discussions include the critical need to have an intersectional mindset. As Kimberlé Crenshaw says, “All inequality is not created equal.”

Australia’s dominant patriarchal culture privileges the white, able-bodied, straight and wealthy. #March4Justice organisers and participants need to be ever-vigilant against doing the same. We call on all events to ensure a diverse platform of speakers, and all organisers to be inclusive in their outreach.

OUR AIMS

1. Full independent investigations into all cases of gendered violence and timely referrals to appropriate authorities. Full public accountability for findings.
2. Fully implement the 55 recommendations in the Australian Human Rights Commission’s
Respect@Work report of the National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces 2020.
3. Lift public funding for gendered violence prevention to the world’s best practice standards
4. The enactment of a federal Gender Equality Act to promote gender equality. It should include a gender equity audit of Parliamentary practices.
