Step back in time at The Great Vintage Picnic!
Ditch the screens and embrace the games that had our grandparents in stitches. Challenge your friends (or opposing sports teams ) to heated tug of war battles, test your balance in the egg and spoon race (harder than it looks!), roll barrels like your life depends on it, and yes - kick off your shoes for some good old-fashioned grape stomping in the Barossa Vintage Festival finale!
Bring your competitive spirit, your sense of humour, and maybe a change of clothes (grape juice stains!). These aren't just games - they're a chance to connect, laugh until your sides hurt, and make memories that don't need a filter.
Pack your picnic rug, chairs and dancing shoes and join us for a day of simple pleasures and belly laughs. Just like wine, some things just get better with age - these classic games are proof!
Celebrate the final day of the Barossa Vintage Festival in the Hundred of Barossa with us!
The Great Vintage Picnic on the Lyndoch Village Green is a charming community family event celebrating nostalgia and togetherness. Come along to enjoy classic picnic fare, vintage games and fashion, friendly competitions and live music. With its picturesque setting, it's a perfect day for friends and family to connect!

A gathering will be held at the Mt Pleasant Men’s Shed in honour of our mate Barrie Mills. Barrie was a fixture at the Men’s Shed for years, as well as the Bowling Club and a few other places. He was much loved and will be sadly missed - but will always be remembered with fondness, and a raising of a glass of his favourite Merlot.
We will be serving a light lunch after a short ceremony. A small donation would be appreciated.
If you intend to pop along and join the Shedders, please let us know so we can adjust our catering. You can do this by replying on the men’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MtPleasantSAMensShed/ , or by texting 0403012339. Hope to see you there.

The 23 December Lobethal Pageant Inc is organizing a pageant on 23 December this year, providing we can secure sponsorship and insurance. After a five-year hiatus, this pageant will be an absolute boomer, because of the enthusiasm of the committee and the community.
Created in 1982 by Sydney artist Martin Shaw, 'Three Well-Known Australians' has travelled to galleries, libraries and public halls around Australia since 1983, inviting viewers across the nation to guess the identity of the three abstract figures it depicts.
Shaw assures audiences he didn’t merely paint these figures at random. “I did have three Australians or Australian themes in mind” he says, but he won’t disclose these details. The only figure in the painting with a definite identity is a small black and white dog in the bottom right-hand corner. This is Pea, Shaw’s much-loved pet, who died in 1991.
The current exhibition includes more than 40 years of guesses from people who have visited the work, these are catalogued into yearbooks which provide insight to this rolling "historical social commentary" of Australia. Of course, over time, who the community feels these figures represent will change as the figure heads, influencers and popular culture within our community changes and evolves.
Many well-known Australians have participated in this project and a selection of the 240 letters Shaw has received from notable community members are also on display, including recent guesses from Prime Minister Albanese and the Premier of South Australia.
This enigmatic artwork will be on display at Mount Pleasant Library until 24 December 2024. We encourage you to visit and become part of this perpetually touring project.
